Choose Life

Choose Life Ministry

St. George Coptic Orthodox Church – Under the Auspice of H.G. Bishop David

"That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another."
1 Corinthians 12:25

Mission

Choose Life is a ministry committed to helping individuals, families, and loved ones find healing and support in the face of mental health challenges, trauma, or substance use issues. As members of the Body of Christ, we believe if one suffers, we all suffer. This ministry seeks to:

  • Eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health

  • Educate the congregation and church leaders

  • Provide a safe and confidential space

  • Connect individuals with professional help

We do not offer clinical treatment or medical advice, but we do facilitate access to appropriate care and walk alongside you on the path to healing—with open hearts, listening ears, and no judgment

"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it."
1 Thessalonians 5:23

Why Mental Health?

Mental health is as essential as physical health

  • Many in our community, especially youth and immigrants, silently suffer

  • Post-pandemic studies show a dramatic rise in depression and anxiety

  • Seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but wisdom and strength in Christ

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

Breaking the Stigma

We aim to challenge common misconceptions, including:

  • “If I seek help, it means I’ve failed”

  • “This doesn't affect me”

  • “If I talk to a therapist, I’m denying God”

Choose Life affirms that faith and professional help go hand-in-hand. Healing is a gift from God, and we honor all avenues of His grace
